The paid tier

Logging books, following one by its code and reading a journey are free, and will stay that way. The paid tier is a handful of extras on top, for anyone who wants to go looking — it never takes anything back.

What comes with it

All of it on top of the free app, none of it in the way.

  • Daily nearby-drops digest

Get one email a day listing every book left in a little library, bookshop or thrift store near you. Pick the radius — anywhere from a mile to a Sunday drive.

  • Follow a place

Put any location's activity into your feed — the box on your street, the shop you pass on the way to work. Every book logged there shows up alongside your own, and the boxes you follow get a card on your home screen: what's on the shelf, what moved this week, and one tap to log a drop there.

  • Looking for a title

Name the books you'd walk to a box for. The moment somebody leaves a copy within your radius of home, you get a push or an email with where.

  • What's on a shelf right now

Any location's page lists the books logged there and still waiting, so you know whether the walk is worth it before you take it.

  • Customise the look of your shelf, or the whole app

Four themes — witchy, cosy cabin, deep sea, fantasy — for the public shelf somebody lands on when they follow a book back to you, worn on your own shelf too, or everywhere in the app. And six display faces to set your headings in, from a tidy hand to outlined comic capitals. Colours, type and a few things drawn in the margins; nothing about what's shown changes.

  • A private journal

What a book was like, where you read it, who you'd give it to — with photos nobody else can fetch. Pin an entry to a book or to one of your own stops on it. Nothing in it reaches your shelf, the feeds or anyone else, and what you write stays yours if you ever leave.

  • Your year in books

Once a year, a deck of cards for what your books did: how far they went without you, the shelves they sat on, the one that travelled furthest. The last card is made to save and show somebody.

  • A line of your own

The tag under your name is one of the badges you've earned. Members can write their own instead — keeper of the box on Oak Street, whatever you like, up to 32 characters.

Ready when you are.
